I tutor. It’s a side job that from time to time takes more of my life focus than I’d like. But I like to think the universe pays me back by providing me with gems like this.
Me: Alright you see the word “boon” there? Do you know what boon means?
Student: Is that like a half monkey?
Me:…I’m sorry…?
Student: Boon - it’s a half monkey.
Me: Wha…I…[brain melting]
Student: like a baboon. A baboon is a monkey. A boon is a half monkey.
Me: …Sure. Yeah. That checks out.
Me: Put lots of money in my hands now.
I refuse to make a difference.
